Gate/Door operator and access control distributor, Encon Electronics collaborated with The Chamberlain Corporation (Chamberlain) for a Commercial Door Operator (CDO) seminar on Wednesday, October 29th at Encon’s training facility in Hayward, California.
Encon introduced their CDO product line in June 2008 and this was the first technical CDO seminar they have hosted since the launch. Chamberlain’s CDO Marketing and Sales Manager, Dan Dombkowski presented to a full house of over 40 Encon dealers.
Dombkowski provided experienced CDO installers new and pertinent information on the Chamberlain Logic 3.0 control board. Plus, dealers new to the commercial door industry benefited from the Dombkowski’s comprehensive Chamberlain CDO overview. Encon dealer, Jeff Welch of San Francisco Locksmith and Security, noted, “Even though this is not my field, the CDO seminar was well worth a day of missed work. Dombkowski provided in-depth answers to all our questions, and I appreciated the opportunity to work directly with Dombkowski and the product.”
Dombkowski began the seminar outlining the new features of the Chamberlain LiftMaster Logic 3.0 control board. He listed the various types of wiring configurations available with the 3.0 board and the features associated with each. He then explained the common features found in the Elite Series’ Logic Operators. According to Dombkowski, “All logic operators have a built-in radio receiver allowing up to 23 transmitters, a maintenance alert system (MAS), an expanded timer to close programming, a timer defeat input, a motor direction switch, several plug-in option boards, and a maximum run timer.”
During a brief intermission, Encon’s Sales Director, Joe Weber, raffled off a volt meter to an attendee. Walter Rojas of A&H Door and Access Control (South San Francisco) was the lucky winner.
After the break, Dombkowski detailed the functionality enhancements now available. “Floor level transmitter programming allows you to program using a three button station and helps prevent unsafe entry. Various plug-in option boards are available, including the red light/green light option, auxiliary contact option, fail safe option, and the fire door release option. Lastly, with the new 3.0 board, you do not have to order a separate modification to achieve mid-stop capability,” Dombkowski noted.
Next, he covered troubleshooting basics beginning with how to isolate the problem by diagnosing one component at a time. “Within the board’s diagnostic mode, you can verify the three button station is working, access problems with sensing edges, check timer to close settings, limit switches, and photo eyes.”
