BD Loops is celebrating 3 major milestones this October

15 Years in Business
Over 100,000 Direct Burial Loops Sold!
Over 50,000 Saw-Cut Loops Sold!

Since 2001, BD Loops has grown tremendously from a small father and son operation to the largest supplier of preformed loops to the door and gate industries.

When BD Loops opened its doors in 2001 they offered 15 standard sizes of direct burial loops, and custom sized loops that would ship the same day. Unlike other suppliers of preformed loops, they kept a large stock on hand to facilitate same day shipping.

BD Loops unveiled their 3/16” Preformed Saw-Cut loops in April of 2006. “Our preformed saw-cut loops had a mixed reception when we unveiled them.” Said Ted Dickson, President of BD Loops. “Installers loved them. We designed a saw-cut loop that was saving them time & money, and they were putting in a product that was better than wrapping their own loop.” Dickson shared, “At the same time we had competitors and other leaders in the industry contacting us because they were afraid our untwisted lead-ins would cause problems.” He explained, “There is a very old industry myth that you must twist loop lead-in wires to ‘cancel’ the signal, otherwise you’ll have problems. We had to fight an uphill battle against this old ingrained myth, it was very hard to convince some people that twisting the wires didn’t cancel the signal. Even with all our test results, and test results from the Federal and Texas DOT that showed the same findings: The reason why you twist the lead-in is to prevent movement of the wires.”

This is why having an outer jacket is the best for both the loop in lead-in wires.

Even with all the adversity, BD Loops was still able to carve out a sizable market for their preformed saw-cut loops. With over 50,000 installed, they feel the twisted lead-in myth has finally been put to bed.

BD Loops had made it their mission to demystify loops and bring quality education to installers to help them install reliable loop systems. BD Loops is still working on dispelling the many myths about loops being taught in this industry schools. These myths concern a variety of topics including loop design, installation, loops near power lines, maximum loop sizes, and more.
