LiftMaster Continues to Put Safety First, New Products Meet Updated 2018 UL 325 Standard

Oak Brook, IL — LiftMaster®, a leading brand of professionally installed perimeter access control solutions, today announced starting August 1, 2018, all LiftMaster Slide Gate Operators will meet the new UL 325 standard, which requires a minimum of two monitored safety entrapment protection devices in both the open and close directions. The inherent reversing system, built into the operator, counts as one device.

LiftMaster Slide Gate Operators will be shipped with two external safety entrapment protection devices including a LiftMaster Monitored Safety Edge and new LiftMaster Retro Reflective Photo Eyes for easy installation. LiftMaster Swing Gate Operators will also be shipped with the new LiftMaster Retro Reflective Photo Eyes.

“Serious accidents have resulted from slide gate systems being improperly installed,” said Jackie Lorenty, Vice President and General Manager, Perimeter Access Solutions for LiftMaster. “As the gate safety leader, we want to reduce the risk for injuries by helping dealers become aware of the steps they need to take to identify and install a compliant gate operator system that is UL 325 Listed.

“With the new LiftMaster Gate Operators and Safety Accessories, dealers will no longer have to piece together a system that may not always work seamlessly. LiftMaster total perimeter access solutions reduce install time and provide peace of mind,” added Lorenty.

Helping to minimize customer callbacks, LiftMaster’s newly enhanced Retro Reflective Photo Eyes, which will be included in the box, maintain alignment within the most challenging environments offering reliable performance. Additionally, LiftMaster’s updated Slide Gate Operator firmware requires that operators have the mandatory UL tested and approved features necessary for safe operation.

LiftMaster understands that every installation is unique, and that it is the responsibility of installers to ensure all entrapment zones are protected with a minimum of two entrapment protection devices installed properly. Not only is LiftMaster committed to helping the industry design, build and maintain safe gate systems that are tested and meet the UL 325 safety standard, but it is also committed to training dealers through the LiftMaster Training Academy to educate on proper installation.
